What To Do With All The Mason Jars?

About a month ago I ordered some mason jars. Okay a lot of mason jars. I originally wanted to serve cocktails in them at a summer get together. Fast forward one month, and I've barely used them. I need to use them because its a waste not to, and also because when 24 mason jars came in the mail, my boyfriend was like, "what the hell are all of these for?" and I was like, "Everything of course, mason jars are so versatile!" And now they sit in a cabinet, taunting me. I have several ideas to use them, and I'm determined to do it this week.

 1. As per my original plan, as a way to serve cocktails.

Which of course I purchased these adorable paper straws for: (6.20 for 150)

2. I also love this idea of using the mason jar as the cocktail shaker! (although it looks like you might have to buy that here. I don't think the point of this was to purchase more mason jars..)

3. There is always of course, using the mason jar as a vase. An idea which might be really overused, but I love all the same:

4. And some slightly different ideas I haven't seen as often (as salad keepers and terrariums):

Mason jars are relatively inexpensive, and clearly they are versatile...I just need to get my craft in gear. Any other great ideas for me? I need to get these out of my cabinet or remain the victim of my boyfriend's continuing "I told you so.

  3. Mason jars are also excellent for storing things! We use ours for spices, dry pasta, dry lentils, etc. and they look super cute on the counter.

  5. I use them to store pens, makeup brushes, lip glosses, sample size perfumes from sephora.com that I'll never use but keep for some reason. Anything you need to store but want to look pretty! Also nice to keep a few spares on hand and put tea lights in for a party or something.

  6. I wish I had an abundance of mason jars haha!

I always use them to hold fresh flowers I mix together from Trader Joe's. I actually just did that this week! I like to add raffia to the mason jars...it really completes the look: http://thepatchdiaries.blogspot.com/2013/06/fresh-flowers.html

Another idea...use them to store your makeup! I have a mini mason jar and I keep my eyeliners and lipliners in it. Then I use the larger mason jars for my makeup brushes. I'll put some rice or coffee beans at the bottom to make them easier to retrieve.

Ooh and giving away mason jars as gifts is fun too! Put the dry ingredients for brownies in them and tie on the recipe/ingredients they need to add. It's a great gift!

I also like to fill up my mason jars with sand, and add just one simple tea lite-sized candle...and they can really make the backyard beautiful for outside parties :)

  8. Now I really want Mason jars... I feel like shipping on these would be insane? I also hear about people using them for making oatmeal overnight with like greek yoghurt and stuff? Supposed to be good. The salad idea also looks delicious. Mmmm food...

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
