Date Detox: Free Movie Night!

This past Friday night boyfriend and I decided to save some money and go to a free outdoor movie. DC's Golden Triangle has a great outdoor movie program at the The Heurich House Museum in the garden. It was surprisingly small and intimate, and the movie, A Philidephia Story, was fantastic. Katherine Hepburn was hilarious, and Cary Grant - le sigh.

I put together a picnic and a pitcher of Pimm's, and we headed over for a fun and free night.

I highly recommend heading over for the next movie. They have one left because of a rain date. Some Like it Hot will play July 28th at sunset!

What To Do With All The Mason Jars?

About a month ago I ordered some mason jars. Okay a lot of mason jars. I originally wanted to serve cocktails in them at a summer get together. Fast forward one month, and I've barely used them. I need to use them because its a waste not to, and also because when 24 mason jars came in the mail, my boyfriend was like, "what the hell are all of these for?" and I was like, "Everything of course, mason jars are so versatile!" And now they sit in a cabinet, taunting me. I have several ideas to use them, and I'm determined to do it this week.

 1. As per my original plan, as a way to serve cocktails.

Which of course I purchased these adorable paper straws for: (6.20 for 150)

2. I also love this idea of using the mason jar as the cocktail shaker! (although it looks like you might have to buy that here. I don't think the point of this was to purchase more mason jars..)

3. There is always of course, using the mason jar as a vase. An idea which might be really overused, but I love all the same:

4. And some slightly different ideas I haven't seen as often (as salad keepers and terrariums):

Mason jars are relatively inexpensive, and clearly they are versatile...I just need to get my craft in gear. Any other great ideas for me? I need to get these out of my cabinet or remain the victim of my boyfriend's continuing "I told you so.
